Beijing has been named one of the top 10 global cities for the first time, according to the 2014 A.T. Kearney Global Cities Index (GCI) released on April 14. The Chinese capital's rise from 14th to 8th position was attributed to sharp progress in four out of five GCI criteria: activities of Fortune 500 companies, number of employees at international schools, number of broadband subscribers, and cultural exchanges between museums.
But some say that Beijing is not yet the global city it aims to be, due to the severe pollution and lack of innovation. Do you agree?
